Dental Bridges: A lasting solution for restoring your smile.
If you have a missing tooth and want to get an artificial replacement for it then dental bridges may be the right option for you. To assess your specific needs, we offer you a complimentary Smile Consultation with one of our qualified clinical team members. Our dentists will be happy to help you determine if bridges are a suitable option for you.
While there are other options for tooth replacement (dental implants and dentures), bridges are often a popular choice as they offer a lasting solution without an invasive procedure. For some, dental bridges are the only option due to lack of bone strength that would be required for an implant.
During the consultation we can answer any questions that you may have regarding the treatment and can highlight the advantages that a bridge may be able to provide you.
Once you are ready to proceed with your dental bridge procedure, we take a digital impression of your teeth for a high level of accuracy, to be able to provide you with a comfortable and accurate fit, at no extra cost over traditional methods. Your bridge is then made in Australia with high quality porcelain.
Approximately two weeks later you can come back in for the fitting of your permanent bridge.

Dental Bridges Melbourne: What is it?
If you lose an adult tooth, some form of replacement can be important so you can continue to chew and speak normally. A bridge is one great option to achieve that.
Dental bridges are used when a tooth has been extracted or lost due to damage or decay, and a dental implant is not the right option for you.
A bridge is another fixed prosthetic device, and it’s usually made from the same materials as a crown.
As the name suggests, a bridge uses anchors on each side of the gap to fill the space. A crown is placed over the teeth on each side, then a bridge is fitted in between the crowns, and will permanently look and feel just like a real tooth. If you’ve lost several teeth in a row, you can also have a bridge with more than one false tooth.
Just like crowns, bridges are made specifically for your mouth, so it will fit in with the other teeth in terms of size, shape and colour.
How long can you expect dental bridges to last?
Bridges and crowns are strong and durable, but not invincible. Bridges are designed to be a fixed solution, but how you care for them can have an impact on their longevity.
Firstly, you’ll need to care for your natural teeth just as well as ever (if not more so), as these are still the basis for any dental bridge. Proper care for bridges is much like looking after your normal teeth. If your natural teeth encounter decay or other issues, it may affect and weaken your dental additions.
Secondly, while ceramic bridges won’t discolour or stain, they may chip or become loose. Therefore, you’ll need to take proper care of them by avoiding chewing on extremely hard items such as ice cubes or boiled sweets, and maintain regular visits to your dentist so they can check everything is working as it should.
