Dr John Hagiliassis

Principal Dentist

Dr John Hagiliassis is a fully qualified Australian trained Dental Surgeon and a member of the Australian Dental Association (ADA). He enjoys working with his colleagues in a team based approach to dentistry.

After completing 5 years of comprehensive study at the University of Melbourne, he was awarded the William J Tuckfield Prize for Dental Prosthetics and then embarked on his journey into the world of private practice.

Over his 14 years as a dental practitioner, Dr John has performed numerous dental procedures involving many aspects of cosmetic and general dentistry. His chair side manner has been described as friendly, gentle and compassionate. His daily goal is to provide his patients with the care and attention they deserve and empower them with informed choice.

Dr John’s passion for technology has seen him be one of the first to introduce the iTero Digital impression system in Australia.

Dr John has been published in the media and has previously assisted Dental Students at the University of Melbourne.

Dr John Hagiliassis
Dr John philosophy is to produce natural looking, beautiful results. He also regularly attends continuing education seminars, meetings and study groups to stay abreast of the latest techniques on offer, which he can then confidently offer to his patients.

Outside of his work, Dr John loves to keep fit and travel. He has a young family and is passionate about increasing awareness about life threatening food alleges as his son suffers from Anaphylaxis.

Dr Tina Raj

Dentist

Dr Tina Raj completed her Bachelor of Science with first class honours and then attained a Doctor of Philosophy specialising in Molecular Biology, cardio-vascular disease from Monash University.

She then went on to successfully complete her Entry Degree of Bachelor of Dentistry with honours from the University of Sydney. Dr Tina believes in respecting and caring for her patients which is well balanced with her gentle, compassionate nature and a strong drive in pursuing clinical excellence. She tries to implement these goals in her daily practice.

Dr Tina takes the utmost pride and satisfaction in never surpassing on providing the highest quality dental care possible for all her patients and giving them the treatment that they truly deserve. She enjoys practising all aspects of general dentistry, with particular interests in endodontics, paediatric dentistry, providing general dental treatment under general anaesthesia, oral surgery and implant dentistry. In her free time she indulges in a diverse range of activities including keeping fit, swimming, badminton, cooking, painting, playing the piano, reading and continuing her education.

Dr Jane Ho

Dentist

Dr Jane Ho obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Otago in New Zealand. She then went on to successfully complete the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) Primaries Examination. She is currently a member of numerous Dental organisations including the Australian Dental Association (ADA) and the Australia and New Zealand Society of Paediatric Dentistry (ANZSPD).

Before joining the team at Freedom Dental, Dr Jane has spent some time working in the public service at the Dental Health Services Victoria Royal Melbourne Dental Hospital, where she honed her skills and interest in full mouth rehabilitation. She is also passionate about treating children and operates several surgical GA lists for paediatrics.

Dr Jane is also dedicated to learning the latest in cosmetic dentistry with hopes to advance the art and science of aesthetic dentistry. Dr Jane shares the ethos of Freedom Dental and is passionate about giving back to the community and hopes to do more charity/volunteer work in the near future.

She is passionate about furthering her knowledge and improving her skills in all aspects of dentistry, and immensely enjoys providing patients with the satisfaction of quality dental treatment.

Dr. James Lailah

Dentist

Dr James Lailah graduated with Honours from the University of Melbourne in 2003, he then went on to serve as a dentist in the Australian Defence Force for 3 years before coming back to Melbourne to continue his career. Because the field of dentistry is always changing, Dr Lailah takes continuing education seriously and feels it is necessary to keep abreast of the most recent developments and the most superior dental products in order to provide the best possible treatment for his patients.

Dr James Lailah’s credentials and training are extensive and include: Intensive Minor Oral Surgery training, Nobel Biocare Implant Restorative training, Progressive Orthodontics, Esthetic Periodontics, Hygienist Communications, Prime Speak, Spear Education on Comprehensive Cosmetic Dentistry (USA), Truline Invisible Orthodontics, Rotary Endodontic training, Powerprox braces training (USA), Soft Tissue laser certification, Smilefast certification, Inman Aligners certification and Clear Correct certification.

Through his continual training in the area of orthodontic and aesthetic dentistry, Dr. Lailah has the knowledge to understand what he can achieve cosmetically and functionally in the field of dentistry.He enjoys being able to provide his patients with the confidence to smile and patients likes him for the gentle touch and his meticulous tell-show-do style in dentistry.

Outside of work, Dr Lailah recently celebrated the birth of his first child. His hobbies include travelling, reading and enjoying different kinds of food. Dr Lailah speaks both fluent English and Indonesian.

Dr. Boon Tan

Dentist

After obtaining his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide, Boon returned to Victoria to practice for a few years where he joined an established practice in Torquay, Victoria and became a well-known local dentist due to his gentle nature.

Boon was accredited with 2 private hospitals in the Geelong region and has performed numerous dental surgeries for adults and children.

Boon certainly likes to challenge himself. With support from his family, he then decided to move to Sydney and joined a prestigious private dental group within the Dental Corporation network. Since then, he has completed trainings in cosmetic dentistry with the world leading dentists, integrating facial injectables with precise dental rehabilitation. Boon is also a certified provider of Invisalign and Clearcorrect. He has been awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Orthodontics granted by The City of London Dental School (UK). He focuses on the spatial relationships of facial aesthetics and dental alignment, and is a member with the International Association of Orthodontics.

His passion for oral surgery has opened up a new direction in Implantology. Boon is currently completing the Master Clinician Program in Implant Dentistry at The Loma Linda University, California.

Boon moved back to Melbourne permanently in February 2017 to be with his family. Joining the Freedom Dental Day has seamlessly transitioned him from Sydney and he is loving his new found family in the Freedom Dental team.

Outside of Boon’s dental passion, his interests include weight training, fishing, cooking and surfing. He also plays tennis, badminton and soccer when the surf’s down.

Dr George Abdelmalek

Dentist

George completed his Bachelor of Health Science (Dentistry)/Masters in Dentistry at La Trobe University in Bendigo. After graduating, George was accepted into a highly regarded scholarship program and then went on to work in both the public and private dental sector in regional Victoria before moving back home to Melbourne at the end of 2015. George is a clinical demonstrator to undergraduate dental students at La Trobe University and has completed post-graduate examinations with the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS). He is passionate about dental volunteering and in 2015 established a dental charity to provide dental aid in Australia, Vanuatu and Fiji.

George is a nice guy who happens to know a lot about teeth and loves to help patients meet all their dental goals. He has a very calming nature and takes the time and effort to provide high quality treatment in a pain and stress free environment. George places a high emphasis on patient education and all patients leave knowing precisely what is happening in their mouth and techniques to help maintain their teeth for life.

Outside of dentistry, George loves to spend time with family and is an avid North Melbourne Kangaroos and Melbourne Storm supporter.

Dr Brittany Shearn

Referring Orthodontist

Dr Brittany Shearn MDSc (Melb), FRACDS, WFO, is a registered Orthodontists with extensive global experience. She moved to Dubai in 2004 joining a large group practice with over 100 international dentists and specialists in all fields. Since graduating in Orthodontics in 1998, Brittany has consulted for the Royal Childrens Hospital in cleft lip and craniofacial abnormalities and consulted as an Australian Orthodontist in the Middle East. Brittany opened her own in Melbourne in 2001 and the Freedom Dental team have been referring complex orthodontic cases to Dr Shearn of Bayside Orthodontics for many years.

Dr Lisa Crighton

Referring Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon

Dr Lisa Crighton has worked collaboratively with Dr John Hagiliassis for many years as Freedom Dentals referring Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. She completed specialist training in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery in Melbourne and received her Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2003. Following this she undertook additional fellowship training in orthognathic/corrective jaw surgery in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and in the management of facial trauma at the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland. We can arrange a referral to Dr Crighton should you require or request.

Dr David Figdor

Refering Endodontist

Dr Figdor has been working as a specialist in endodontics for over 25 years. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1980, a Masters Degree in Endodontics from Melbourne University in 1984 and a PhD in 2002 from the University of UmeÃ¥, Sweden. As a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons, he became Australia’s first endodontist to be awarded a highly specialised Diploma in Endodontics. Dr Figdor has a special research interest in endodontic microbiology and is also a Fellow of the Australian Society for Microbiology.

He has dozens of published scientific papers in the endodontic literature and is a referee for numerous dental, microbiology and endodontic journals. Dr Figdor is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board and Editorial Board of several international journals. He teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate students at Melbourne University and is a visiting scientist at Monash University. Dr John and many of the team at Freedom Dental have been referring our patients to Dr Figdor for over 10 years.

Bridgette Davey

Oral Health Therapist

Bridgette works as a dental hygienist at Freedom Dental. Originally from Tasmania, Bridgette moved to Melbourne and attained her Bachelors in Oral Health Science from La Trobe University. She also has a certificate 3 in dental nursing. After having worked as a dental nurse, Bridgette realised her passion for the field and decided to become a dental hygienist.

She enjoys dental hygiene in particular because of her belief in a preventative approach and educating patients on how to maintain health teeth and gums. In her spare time Bridgette likes listening to music, being outdoors and going to the beach.

Sophie was a patient of Freedom Dental before joining the team in 2010. She has worked with both our concierge team as well as the administration department before taking on a management role. Sophie has a fantastic ‘can do’ work ethic and relishes in providing exceptional customer satisfaction. Sophie is always smiling and brightens the day of our patients and staff.
